One Month

It's been one month since Gotcha Day. And since that day, we have seen more of her little personality coming out as she gets more comfortable with her new life. Here are some things we are discovering about our little girl...

Strong-willed. Im asking Santa for Mr Dobson's book this year. I'm surprised she doesn't think her name is 'no'.

Her love language is touch. She's just started grabbing my hand and kissing it. And she will come up to either one of us at very odd times and just squeeze our legs and give us the best hugs we've ever had. That is heaven on earth for me.

She understands some English. She's very smart! Se listens very intently and watches our mouth as we talk. She'll be speaking English very soon. I must admit though...I loooove her Chinese baby talk.

She is motivated by positive reinforcement. Aren't we all?

She loves her daddy. And I've never seen him as happy as he is when he walks in the door and she starts her happy dance. That's heaven on earth for him.

Extremely focused. She will lose herself in certain activities. Like bath time. She loves it and looks forward to it everyday. Swimming lessons may be in her future.

She loves to sing and be sung to.

She loves to keep things straight. Yes!!! An answer to prayer. She helps me put up toys, her high chair, and she loves to sweep. Santa's bringing her her own little broom!!!

And finally...I think she was being potty trained at the orphanage. She squats when she has to go. We will be working on that soon. Pray for us both.

I have no doubt she was loved and very well taken care of at her orphanage. How could I ever thank them for that? I'm not sure, but I'm so thankful for Half the Sky and what they are doing for orphans. I never knew the impact they could have until Sophia.
